Business Process Improvement — Certificate of Occuoancv Process
• Voice of Business (City staff) and Voice of Customer (development community) met on October
22nd for the second time for an half -day meeting to identify common issues and to generate
recommendations for improvement for the Occupancy Change of Use permit — the most
challenging building permit.. As before, The meeting was facilitated by a Lean Six Sigma
Master Black Belt consultant. Recommendations were identified and discussed at the meeting.
The next step is for staff to prepare the report of recommendations and to work with
stakeholders to implement them.
Resaonse to COVID-19 Pandemic
• All required applications/permits continue to be available online. Staff continues to work on
streamlining and adding permit processes online.
o DSD continues to work with IT on the IT Permit Extract for Public Use project. This project
will pull additional data from Accela and put it out on the Open Data Portal and on One
Address for the public's use. The goal is to provide more information to the public to
promote transparency and good customer service.
