HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5529-02-2022 A Resolution NO. 5529-02-2022 DESIGNATING THE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE AS THE AD HOC MUNICIPAL COURTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE IN MATTERS REGARDING MUNICIPAL COURT WHEREAS, Section 10-2 of the City Code establishes an ad hoc municipal court advisory committee to act as the liaison between the municipal court judges and the City Council and to make recommendations to the City Council in all matters regarding municipal court and provides that members of the committee shall be members of City Council appointed in accordance with the City Council Rules of Procedure("CCRP"); and WHEREAS, under the CCRP, the Mayor establishes the number, duties, membership, and chairs of all standing committees and appoints, subject to Council approval, members to ad hoc committees; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the CCRP the Mayor has established the City Council Legislative Affairs Committee, consisting of members of City Council, with the committee serving as a liaison between Council and the City's legislative staff and consultants; and WHEREAS, the nature and scope of the Legislative Affairs Committee's duties are consistent with and encompass the types of functions prescribed for the ad hoc municipal court advisory committee under the City Code; and WHEREAS, adding the duties of the ad hoc municipal court advisory committee to those of the Legislative Affairs Committee, whose members are eligible to serve as members of the ad hoc municipal court advisory committee, would be more efficient than having a wholly separate committee subject to separate scheduling and staffing requirements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS,THAT: The City Council Legislative Affairs Committee is hereby designated to serve as the ad hoc municipal court advisory committee and perform all functions thereof as set forth in the City Code; Adopted this 8th day of February 2022.
