HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5566-05-2022 A Resolution NO. 5566-05-2022 APPOINTING LEANN GUZMAN AS CITY ATTORNEY FOR THE CITY OF FORT WORTH WHEREAS, on December 30, 2021, Sarah J. Fullenwider retired as City Attorney for the City of Fort Worth, having served in that position after being appointed by the City Council effective January 29, 2011, and Laetitia Coleman Brown has served as Interim City Attorney since that time; and WHEREAS, Chapter VI, Section I of the City of Fort Worth City Charter provides that the City Attorney shall be recommended by the City Manager and approved by the City Council; and WHEREAS, between late 2021 and early 2022, the City conducted a national search to fill the position of City Attorney utilizing the recruitment services of Strategic Government Resources; and WHEREAS, Leann Guzman is a competent practicing attorney, duly licensed, and who has practiced law for at least five (5) years immediately preceding this appointment; and WHEREAS, Leann Guzman became a licensed attorney in 2001 and has practiced law in the Fort Worth City Attorney's Office since 2004, obtaining vast experience by dealing with a variety of diverse municipal law issues; and WHEREAS,the City Manager recommends that Leann Guzman be appointed as City Attorney. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS: THAT Leann Guzman be appointed as the City Attorney for the City of Fort Worth with such appointment to be effective as of May 10, 2022.
