(ALL) Adopt Attached Appropriation Ordinance to Increase Estimated Receipts and Appropriations in the Library Special Revenue Fund in an
Amount Up to $5,000.00 from Future Revenues Received from Internet Archive for the Purpose of Funding the Library Department's Participation
in the Community Webs Archiving Program
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached appropriation ordinance to increase estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Library Special Revenue Fund in an amount up to $5,000.00, from future revenues received from Internet Archive for the purpose of funding the
Library Department's participation in the Community Webs Archiving Program.
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to authorize the appropriation and use of up to $5,000.00 in revenue the Fort
Worth Public Library will receive from Internet Archive, a non-profit digital library that provides free access to archived web pages, books, videos,
images and software programs. This stipend is provided as a result of, and is intended to support, the Library Department's participation in
Community Webs, Internet Archive's Community History Web Archiving Program for the purpose of preserving community history. As a
participating institution, the library will receive a free subscription to Archive -It, software which allows the library to curate local contributions into
that archival collection. The Library will also receive two annual stipend payments in the amount of $1,100.00 each to be distributed in Fiscal Year
(FY) 2022 and FY2023 respectively. The stipends are intended to be used to fund program -related expenses such as: community outreach,
digital collecting and/or professional development (education, conference attendance, etc). Additional stipend travel funds in an unspecified
amount are expected to be received for Library staff to attend an in -person Community Webs symposium next year (contingent on travel impacts
relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic). It is expected the amount of the travel stipend will be less than $2,800.00 and within the $5,000.00 total
authorized by this M&C and appropriation ordinance.
This project is located in ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will
be deposited into the Library Spec Revenue Gen Proj project within the Library Special Revenue Fund. The Library Department (and Financial
Management Services) is responsible for the collection and deposit of funds due to the City. Prior to any expense being incurred, the Library
Department also has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
