Department
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of an amendment to a lease agreement with Texas Christian University to extend the
current lease term to provide for five additional one-year renewal terms for space located at 2900 West Berry Street for a police storefront for the
Fort Worth Police Department.
DISCUSSION:
On July, 8, 2008, Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) C-22890, City Council approved the execution of a lease agreement with Texas
Christian University for space located at 2900 West Berry Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76129 to be used by the Fort Worth Police Department as a
police storefront (Lease). The Lease was effective June 1, 2008 with an annual rent of $1.00 and all renewal terms to expire May 31, 2012 (City
Secretary Contract No. 37325).
On June 5, 2012, City Council approved the execution of an amendment to the Lease to extend its term and add renewal options, all to expire May
31, 2019 (M&C L-15370).
On June 25, 2019, City Council approved the execution of an amendment to the Lease to extend its term and add renewal options, all to expire
May 31, 2022 (M&C L-16236).
By mutual agreement of the parties, the Lease was amended to add five (5) automatic, one-year renewals with all renewals to expire May 31,
2027.

FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation, funds are available in the current operating budget, as
previously appropriated, in the Crime Control & Prev Distr Fund. Prior to an expenditure being incurred, the Police Department has the
responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
