HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013/04/02-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT NORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL 1IEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION April 2, 2013 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 4:08 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre- Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price Mayor Pro tem W.B. "Zim" Zimmerman, District 3 Council Member Salvador Espino, District 2 Council Member Daniel Scarth, District 4 Council Member Frank Moss, District 5 Council Member Jungus Jordan, District 6 Council Member Dennis Shingleton, District 7 Council Member Kelly Allen Gray, District 8 (left at 4:21 the start of Item Ib) Council Member Joel Burns, District 9 Staff Present: Tom Higgins, City Manager Sarah Fullenwider, City Attorney Mary J. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Charles Daniels, Assistant City Manager Gerald Pruitt, Assistant City Attorney Horatio Porter, Chief Financial Officer Carolyn McFatridge, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Nancy McKenzie, Sr. Risk Management Analyst Chris Mosley, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Vicki Ganske, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Jay Chapa, Housing and Economic Development Director Cynthia Garcia, Assistant Housing Director With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 4:09 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING April 2, 2013 PAGE 2 of 2 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: a. Cecilia Jacobs v. The City of Fort Worth, et al, 67`x' District Court, Tarrant County, Texas, Cause No. 67-254044-11; b. Legal Issues related to a proposed settlement with United Riverside Rebuilding Corporation; and c. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas. 2. Deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code. There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 4:28 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
