Currently, recruits receive one week of Crisis Intervention Training. In addition to this training, officers can elect to complete Mental Health Officer Training (MHOT) to receive certification. Adding a staff person to the Department's crisis intervention efforts increases the number of in-service MHOT hours that are available while also covering the requirements of Crisis Intervention Training separate from officers that can take this elective training.
