(CD 6) Authorize Adoption of an Amendment to the Master Thoroughfare Plan to Change the Name of Stewart Feltz Road to Worth Creek
Parkway Located North of Tarleton State University and West of Chisholm Trail Parkway
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the proposed amendment to the Master Thoroughfare Plan to change the name of Stewart Feltz
Road to Worth Creek Parkway, a commercial connector [CCO-L2-TO-TWLT-PO-BOP (110)] located north of Tarleton State University and west of
Chisholm Trail Parkway.
DISCUSSION:
The City is currently working with the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on improvements to
the thoroughfare located north of Tarleton State University, where it connects to Chisholm Trail Parkway Toll Road. By improving connectivity, the toll
road will better serve Tarleton State University and the surrounding developments. The Master Thoroughfare Plan identifies this thoroughfare as
Stewart Feltz Road. It has come to staff's attention that two preliminary plats (PP-17-076/PP-21-044) were approved by the City Plan
Commission wherein the aforementioned thoroughfare was called out as Worth Creek Parkway. It is recommended that the Master Thoroughfare
Plan be amended to change the name of the portion of the thoroughfare from Stewart Feltz Road to Worth Creek Parkway. The name change will
reduce any confusion between the MTP and the platted name of the street. The name change will also facilitate requested changes by North
Central Texas Council of Governments to TxDOT for the thoroughfare's functional classification to be upgraded to a status eligible for federal aid.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that this action will have no effect on City funds.
