RATIFY APPLICATION FOR AND AUTHORIZE ACCEPTANCE OF THE GRANT,IF
AWARDED,FOR THE REBUILDING AMERICAN INFRASTRUCTURE WITH
SUSTAINABILITY AND EQUITY(RAISE) GRANT PROGRAM FROM THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A GRADE-SEPARATED CROSSING OF
HERITAGE TRACE PARKWAY OVER THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN AND SANTA FE
RAILROAD
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation considers funding requests from the
federal Department of Transportation's National Infrastructure Investments program under, among other
sources,the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity(RAISE)Grant program; and
WHEREAS, City staff identified a need for federal funding assistance to construct a grade-separated
crossing of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (`BNSF") tracks at Heritage Trace Parkway, thus
making an important east-west connection for the citizens of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has applied for additional grant funding in the amount of
$1,562,500 from the BNSF; and
WHEREAS, an application for RAISE Grant funds in the amount of$25,000,000 was submitted by
the City of Fort Worth on or before the deadline of April 14, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth finds that it is in the best interest of the
citizens of Fort Worth to utilize grant funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to mitigate the
costs of designing and constructing infrastructure gaps; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH,TEXAS,THAT:
1. The City Council ratifies the application for and acceptance of a Rebuilding American Infrastructure
with Sustainability and Equity(RAISE)Grant in the amount of$25,000,000; and
2. The City Council designates the City Manager, through his designated representative, to apply for,
shepherd, monitor, accept, reject, alter or terminate this grant on behalf of the City.
