AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A
PORTION OF SOUTH MAIN STREET IN THE 2900 BLOCK,
A WIDTH OF 60 ' AND A LENGTH OF 150 ' FROM LOT 1-R,
BLOCK 28-R, RYAN AND PRUITT ADDITION TO THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH, SOUTH TO WEST BOWIE STREET; PRO-
VIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE FEE IN SAID LAND;
SAVE AND EXCEPT EASEMENTS ARE RESERVED FOR ANY AND
ALL EXISTING OR PROSPECTIVE UTILITIES, INCLUDING
EXISTING WATER AND GAS FACILITIES AND SAVE AND
EXCEPT ADEQUATE DEDICATED PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY OR
EASEMENT IS HEREBY RETAINED TO PROVIDE INGRESS AND
EGRESS TO TATS 15 AND 16, BLOCK 27, RYAN AND PRUITT
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING THAT
THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS :
SECTION 1.
That a portion of South Main Street in the 2900 Block,
a width of 60 ' and a length of 150' from Lot 1-R, Block 28-R,
Ryan and Pruitt Addition to the City of Fort Worth, South to
West Bowie Street be and the same is hereby vacated, abandoned
and closed as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or
character whatever; SAVE AND EXCEPT easements are reserved for
any and all existing or prospective utilities, including ex-
isting water and gas facilities and SAVE AND EXCEPT an adequate
dedicated public right-of-way or easement is hereby retained
to provide ingress and egress to Lots 15 and 16, Block 27,
Ryan and Pruitt Addition to the City of Fort Worth.
SECTION 2.
That the fee to the land in the above described vacated
street is hereby released and will revert to the adjacent
owners as provided by law, SAVE AND EXCEPT that easements
are reserved for any and all existing or prospective utilities,
including existing water and gas facilities and SAVE AND EX-
CEPT adequate dedicated public right-of-way or easement is
hereby retained to provide ingress and egress to Lots 15 and
16, Block 27, Ryan and Pruitt Addition to the City of Fort Worth.
SECTION 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after the date of its passage and
it is so ordained.

Penry Lumber and Construction Company, owner of Lots 14 and 15, Block 27, and
Robert L. Burton, owner of Lot 16, Block 27, all in Ryan and Pruitt Addition,
has requested that the City vacate South Main Street in the 2900 block a width
of 60 feet and a length of 150 feet from Lot IR, Block 28-R, Ryan and Pruitt
Addition, south to W. Bowie,,,
Subject street right-of-way, acquired by dedication, is open and gravelled, and
contains water and gas facilities. The agencies responsible for these public
facilities request easements of appropriate size be retained for their existing
facilities.
Reviewing City departments and private utility companies have no objections to
this request provided:
1. The vacated right-of-way is replatted with abutting property.
2. A 15' collinear easement is provided for the existing water facilities, and
an easement of appropriate width is retained for the existing gas line.
3. Main Street is physically closed with standard curb and gutter at W. Bowie
Street or the approach is reduced to a driveway type entrance.
4. Adequate access is dedicated to provide public access to Lots 15 and 16,
Block 27, as required in City Plan Commission Rules and Regulations (subject
lots otherwise would not have legal access) .
The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends that an
ordinance be adopted vacating subject right-of-way as requested. A satisfactory
replat has been submitted to City Staff and arrangements have been made to
physically close Main Street with curb and gutter and a driveway type approach.
Recommendation
It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating subject right-of-way
as recommended by the City Plan Commission.
