JUSTIFICATION (REASONS) FOR CHANGE ORDER
1. 162 2002 BLOCK SODDING - At the final inspection on August 19, 2013 TxDOT requested sodding of an area adjacent to a newly installed
sidewalk for erosion control purposes. Attached is the contractor's proposal to install Bermuda grass along a 33 square yard area. One pallet
of sod is estimated to cost $152.09. In adtlition the contractor will use three persons for 8 hours to remove the excess topsoil, fine gratle, pick
up antl lay the sod, and perform the initial watering. The landscape contractor will remobilize to the jobsite. The total unit price is $23.30/SY
for a total price of $768.90. The average low bitl unit price as list ion TxDOT's website is $5.75/ SY and the 12-month moving average is
$3.13/ SY with the following quantities of 228.00 and 33,

Below are the costs associated with the grass installation at the east end of the project adjacent to the T station that we had
discussed.

It is cheaper to buy a full pallet of sod for 33 sy than it is to by enough for just 33 sy by the individual piece. We have made no
accommodation in the price to continue water the grass. We will install the grass and water it upon installation. We provided a
price to water the area for a period of two weeks if it is required. We can complete this work immediately upon approval within
the time frame of the punch list, however, if the approval takes longer and watering is required we will require the addition of 16
days to our contract time to complete this work.
The sod cost is $152.09. I have included 3 guys for 8 hours to remove the excess topsoil to accommodate sod, pick up and place
the sod and water 1 time for the initial installation included in the price of the bermuda grass.
The watering price includes 1 man for two hours per day plus a truck and water trailer for a two week period.
