The application of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for an increase
in rates in the Fort Worth Metropolitan Zone is listed on the City
Council Agenda for its meeting on December 21, 1970, for the purpose
of conducting a public hearing. The report of the Utilities Supervisor
on the company's request is being completed, and copies will be dis-
tributed to the City Council on Friday, December 18th. The report will
be furnished to the news media at that time for release on Sunday,
December 20th. Due to the complexity of this matter and the time required
for review of the recommended rate schedule by the City Council and the
public, it is anticipated that the City Council may want to hold a hear-
ing on December 21 and perhaps December 28 before taking final action.
