HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 6813 ORDINANCE NO. 3 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT GALVESTON AVENUE FROM E. HATTIE STREET SOUTH TO E. CANNON AVENUE ADJA- CENT TO BLOCKS 19 AND 20, TUCKER'S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS, W. CANNON AVENUE FROM SOUTH MAIN STREET WEST TO GAL- VESTON AVENUE ADJACENT TO BLOCKS 20 AND 21 OF SAID ADDITION, AND THAT PORTION OF THE NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY IN BLOCK 21 OF SAID ADDITION ADJACENT TO LOTS 2 AND 3 BE VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN SAID LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Galveston Avenue from E. Hattie Street south to E. Cannon Avenue adjacent to Blocks 19 and 20, Tucker's Ad- dition to the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, and W. Cannon Avenue from South Main Street west to Galveston Avenue adjacent to Blocks 20 and 21 of said Addition be and the same are hereby closed, abandoned and permanently vacated as streets or public thoroughfares of any kind or character whatever. SECTION 2. That the portion. of the north-south alley in Block 21 of said Addition adjacent to Lots 2 and 3 be and the same is hereby vacated, closed and permanently abandoned as an alley or public thoroughfare of any kind or character whatever. SECTION 3,, That the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the fee to the land in said streets and alley is hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owner of the fee as provided by law, save and except that easements are reserved for any and all existing utilities. SECTION 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. The subject rights-of-way were acquired by dedication. West Cannon Avenue and Galveston Avenue are paved, curbed and guttered and there are existing drainage and utility facilities located therein. The City Council approved the temporary closing of Galveston for periods of two years in September, 1969, and three years in October, 1971. The reviewing City departments and private utility companies have no objec- tions to this request provided easements are retained for existing utilities, satisfactory drainage easement is dedicated and a satisfactory replat is submitted. Such a replat has been furnished. The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends that an ordinance be adopted vacating subject rights-of-way as requested. Recommendation It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating the subject rights- of-way as recommended by the City Plan Commission.
