ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE granting to the Northern Texas Traction
Company, a corporation, and its assigns, the right and:&anchise
to construct, maintain and operate certain lines of electric
street railway over and upon certain Streets in the City of
Fort Wortho and to erect and maintain, in connection therewith,
poles, trolley wires and overhead wire equipment necessary to
operate such electric railway; the same being extensions of,
connections with and branches of certain lines of electric
street railway, at present owned and operated by said Northern
Texas Traction Company in the City of Fort Worth.

ton, In Tarrant County, Texas, doth hereby give and grant unto
the Northern Texas Traction Company, a corporation, domiciled in
Tarrant County, Texas, and organized for the purpose of operating
electric street railways, and its successors and assigns, the
right, privilege and franchises to construct, maintain and
operate a line of electric street railway tracks, together with
all necessary switches, side-tracks and turnouts, for the opera-
tion of electric street cars thereon, as an extenbion of, con-
nection with and branch of that present line of electric street,
railway, now owned and operated by the said Northern Texas Trao-
t,3.oa Company, over East Front Street, end known as the East,
Front Street line, along, over and upon the following named and
described streets in the said City of Fort Worth, Texas , to-wit-
Beginning at a point of connection with the lines of
railway trao of the Northern Texas Traction Company, immediately
opposite the West end of Wilkinson Avenue, at its junction with

Handley Boulevard., /f ' the Eastern extension of East Front
Street; thence across said Boulevard and along and over
Wilkinson Air' ue to Tor

And the like privilege and franchise is also granted
unto the said Northern, Texas Traction Company, and its assigns,
to erect and maintain, in connection, with its said line of street
railway track, poles, wires and overhead electrical construction
necessary, useful or desirable for the propulsion of said care
by electric power.
This franchise and grant of the right and privilege
to extend said lines of street railway over the streets just
above mentioned, to be subject to and run",tftTrent with the
franchises heretofore granted by the City of Fort Worth, for the

construction, maintenance, spd operation of a line of street
railway over said East Front Street.
Section II; The City of Fort Worth, a municipal cor-
poration, in Tarrant County, Texas, doth hereby give and grant
unto the Northern Texas Traction Company, a corporation, domiciled
in Tarrant County, Texas, and organized for the purpose of
operating el ctric street railways, and its successors and
assigns, the right, privilege and franchises to construct,
maintain and operate a line of electric street railway tracks,
J,ro'gether with all necessary switches, side-tracks and turnouts,
for the operation of electric street cars thereon, as an ex-
tension of, connection with and branch of that present line of
,,,electric street railway, now owned and operated by the said Northern
Traction Company, over Commerce Street, along, over and upon the
following named and described streets in said City of Fort Worth,
to-wit:
Beginning at a point of intersection with the present

lines of street railway track, owned and operated by the Northern
11exas Traction Company on Commerce Street, at theintersection of
Third Street; thence Eastward over East Third Street to Harding,
, Street; thence South over Harding Street to East Fourth Street;
thence Eastward over East Four$h Street and the extension thereof
to Maple Street in said City.
And the like privilege and franchise is also granted
unto the said Northern Texas Traction Company, and its assigns
to erect and maintain, in connection with its said line of
street railway track, poles, wires and overhead electrical
construction necessary, useful or desirable for the propulsion
of said cars by electric power.
This Franchise and grant of the right and privilege
to extend said lines of street railway over the streets just
above mentioned, to be subject to and run"Rwrent with the
franchises and right heretofore granted to the Northern Texas
Traction Company and its assigns, to maintain and operate a line
of electric street railway over Commerce Street in said City.
Section III. All tracks laid under the provisions of
this Ordinance, shall be located, laid and maintained in such
manner as shall be designated by the City Engineer.
Section IV. Said Northern Texas Traction Company,
or its assigns shall at its or their own sole cost and expense
p,ave and re-pave or otherwise surface and re-surface and keep
constantly in good order and condition, with the same material
with which the street on the outside is paved and surfaced, all
that part of vAeh street occupied by it or that which lies
between the rails of said tracks and for 18 inches on each side
thereof, and said Northern Texas Traction Company or its assigns
shall conform its or their tracks or any part thereof to the

proper grade of each street and chapge the level of said tracks
as often and whenever the grade of an, y such street is changed so
that every part of each track shall always be kept at the duly
established grade line or as near thereto as the surface of the
grade of the street outside thereof will permit.
Section V. Said Northern Texas Traction Company, its
successors and assigns, do hereby agree to indemnify and hold
the said City of Fort Worth harmless because of, and promptly to
pay off and discharge, or repay to the said City, all damages,
claims, Judgments, attorneys' fees and other costs and expenses
rendered against, or incurred, or paid out by the said City by
reason of injuries either to persons or property occasioned as the
proximate result of ar7thing done or permitted or in ar4r wey prox-
imately arising out of the construction, operation, maintenance
upon the above streets and thoroughfares of the tracks, poles or
wires of said Company.
Section VI: All of the conditions, limitations and pro-
visions contained in(the Ordinances granting, franchises now
owned by the Northern Texas Traction Company on Bast Front
Street, and in the original franchises granting the rights and
privileges to the Northern Texas Traction Company, for the
operation of a line of street railway Over Commerce Street,
shall continue in force and govern and control (in addition
to the provisions of this ordinance) the operation and con-
straction of the contemplated extensions of" the present line's
of street railway as herein and hereby granted respectively.
Section VII. That this ordinance shall take effect and
be in force from and after its passage.
