HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 180 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 22-180 December 6, 2022 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council 3- Page 1 of 1 RL i7 Y rrn SUBJECT: FIREARMS TAKEN IN APPLICATION OF THE VIOLENT CRIME STRATEGY The purpose of this report is to analyze the number of guns taken off the streets in the application of the Fort Worth Police Department's #FortWorthSafe Violent Crime Strategy, which began on April 2, 2022. This strategy concentrates police resources upon neighborhoods with the highest rates of violent crime. To date, approximately 2,400 calls have been generated, of which 360 or 15 percent have resulted in at least one gun being seized. There have been a total 496 firearms seized: 486 from adults (17 and older) and 10 from juveniles (16 and under).
