HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5668-12-2022 A Resolution NO. 5668-12-2022 APPROVING RAISES FOR CERTAIN COUNCIL-APPOINTED POSITIONS AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS,the Charter of the City of Fort Worth reserves to the City Council the authority to appoint and prescribe compensation for the positions of City Manager, City Attorney, City Secretary and City Auditor; and WHEREAS, since the City Auditor only began working for the City in September of 2022, no raise will be provided for this position for fiscal year 2023; and WHEREAS, the City Council has previously directed staff and approved a budget to fund additional compensation needed to offset the negative financial impact caused to the City Manager by federal-law restrictions regarding highly compensated individuals who participate in a defined benefit plans; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the adopted budget for Fiscal Year 2023, the City Council wishes to implement pay raises for the other listed appointed positions for which the Council prescribes compensation under the City Charter. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS THAT: 1. The City Council directs the City Manager, acting through appropriate staff, to implement all changes and take all necessary actions to provide on-going increases in the amount shown for each of the listed positions: City Manager 3.5% City Y Attorne 4% — City Secretary 5% To the extent any of the listed individuals is compensated above the defined-benefit-plan pensionable limit prescribed by federal law,their salaries shall be"grossed up"as needed to offset the documented negative financial impact of that pension limit and ensure the individuals in question receive total compensation that is equivalent to what they would have received were their entire salary pensionable. 2. The effective date for each such increase will be November 19,2022. 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. Adopted this 13th day of December,2022.
