HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2443 ORDINANCE NANCE NO» ORDI ASCE LETTING COE'IBACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF,A PORTION OF CROC ETT STREET, NORWOOD STREET, BLEDSOE STWMT, CURRIE STREET AND MORTON STREET IN VAN ZASM PAR; ADDITION AND AUTHORIZING'ITS EXECUTION; MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTED- NESS INCURRED THEREBY- AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTIM, TES. WHEREAS, on the 30th day of October, 1946 by ordinance passed and approved by the City Council of the City of Fort North, being Ordinance No, 2365, the City determined the necessity for and ordered, the improvement of a portion of Crockett Street, Norwood Street,, Bledsoe Street, Currie Street and Dorton Street in the Vain Zandt Park Addition, to Witt CROCKETT STREET from east property line of University Drive to the west property line of Norwood Street; NORWOOD STREET from the north property line of West Lancaster Avenue to the south property line of West Seventh Street; BLEDSOE STREET from the east property line of Norwood Street to the west property line of Foch Street; CURRIE STREET from the north property line of West Lancaster Avenue to the south property- line of Bledsoe Street; and MORTON STREET from the east property line of Currie Street to the west property line of Foch Street, in the Van Zandt Park Addition; and, WHEREAS subsequent to the passage and approval of said ordinance, plans and specifications for said improvements were submitted by the City Engineer and said plans and specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council; and,, VEREAS, notice to bidders was given as required by the City Charter; ands WHERFAS, the bid of General Construction Company, unin- corporated (A. Me Campbell, an individual, sole owner) of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, was found to be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to wit, excavating present streets, placing thereon a 2 inch compacted gravel foundation course, and paving with 7 inches of reinforced conoret concrete pavement with combined/curb anc gutter, together with incidentials and appurtenances, all as provided by said plans and specifications; with the exception that the 40 foot Roadway section, from face of curb to face of curb;, is changed to 38 feet, ORDINANCE NO. Page No. 2 NOS', THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1* That the work of making and constxuoting such improvements and contract therefor is hereby let to the General Construction Company, unincorporated, which said contract is dated the 27th day of June, 1947, and is on file with the City and executed by General Construction Company, and the Mayor and City Secretary are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices for the work. SECTION 2. That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City of Fort north by said contract, there is hereby appro- priated out of available funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient to pay said indebtedness so incurred. SECTION 3. That the City Engineer of the City of Fort Forth be and he is hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimated of the cost of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and provisions of Chapter 146 of the Acts of the First Called Session of the Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Wortho APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY R E.
