HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5686-02-2023 A Resolution NO. 5686-02-2023 ADOPTING THE FORT WORTH MEACHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MASTER PLAN AND INCORPORATING IT INTO THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WHEREAS the City of Fort Worth (the "City") is the owner of Fort Worth Meacham International Airport("Airport"); WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration ("FAA") requires all airports to have a master plan which provides the framework needed to guide future airport development that will cost-effectively satisfy aviation demand and allows the Airport, the FAA and Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division ("TxDOT Aviation") to plan for and support decisions when awarding funding for certain projects at the Airport over the years; WHEREAS, the FAA recommends that airports update their long-term planning documents every 7 to 10 years, or as necessary, to address local changes at the airport; WHEREAS,the last master plan update for the Airport was completed in 2004; WHEREAS, in 2020, the City of Fort Worth received a grant from TxDOT Aviation in the amount of$298,100 to update the Airport's Master Plan ("Master Plan"); WHEREAS, through a competitive process, Coffman and Associates ("Consultant") was selected as the consultant for this effort and the City entered into a contract with C&A under M&C 20- 0034; WHEREAS, in conjunction with the Consultant, the City established a Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) which included representatives from TxDOT Aviation, the FAA, North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and the City's Transportation and Public Works, Planning and Data Analytics, and Economic Development departments, to act in an advisory capacity to ensure key stakeholder involvement in the Master Plan update process. WHEREAS, four public meetings were held to gain input and feedback; WHEREAS, on October 20, 2022 the Aviation Advisory Board recommended that the City Council approve the Report of the Master Plan for the Airport; WHEREAS, on January 10, 2023 the Aviation Department presented the Final Report of the Master Plan to the Mobility and Infrastructure Committee; WHEREAS, on January 24, 2023 the Aviation Department provided a summary of the Report of the Master Plan via an informal report to the City Council at work session; WHEREAS, if approved by City Council, the Report of the Master Plan will be reviewed and approved by the FAA and TxDOT Aviation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS THAT: The City of Fort Worth hereby adopts the Master Plan for Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and incorporates it into the City's Comprehensive Plan.
