An inequity presently exists in the uses permitted in,the "J,,'" Light
Industrial District and the "K" heavy Industrial District according to
ithe torms of the Zoning Ordinance, The manufacture of cans and drums
is limited to "K" Heavy Industrial Districts, although the ,manufacture
of these two items has less impact on the surrounding area than uses
permitted in a ""d" Light. Industrial District, such as stamping, shearing
or punching of metal; or planing mills". This discrepancy was brought to
the attention of the City Zoning Commission and a ;public hearing was held'
April 20 1962, to consider deleting "cans" and "drums" from the "K"'
Heavy Industrial llistrict use regulations (Paragraph 18, Section IS of
the Zoning Ordinance). This change will authorize the manufacture of
"cans" and "drums" manufactured of metal not to exceed, 1/8" in thickness
under Paragraph; KA of Section 14, ",I" Light Industrial District, which'
reads as follows
'Nanufacture of:
"Products from aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, steel, tin
or other metals and from bone, leather, paper, rubber, shell,,
wire, or wood, of any kind other than those enumerated under
District 41 .11

recommend to the City Council that an ordinance be adopted covering
