PRESENTED AND Pk WED on first reading Monday, Wx_May 21st,------xxxxx, 1962. APPPOVED AS TO FOFI! AND LEGALITY: City Attorney a low CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS rras^ararE OF THO CQTY MAC Communication to Uayot and Comicil No. PZ-2-1 CITY E May 21, 196 FTC , TES Honorable Mayor and Members of the fifty Council Re: proposed Annexation of 0,179 Square City of Fort Worth Miles North of the Fart Worth-lea l l a Turnpike Mrs. McKnight and gentlemen; An industrial building and a number, of outdoor advertising signs have been constructed along the north side of the Fort Worth-Dallas Turnpike in an area which was annexed to port Worth under first reading by Ordinance No, 4422 on January 6, 1961. its is not necessary to obtain a building permit to construct a building or other structure in an area that is under first reading annexation, nor is such an area subject to zoning control'. Annexation of a strip between .300 feet and 1000 feet In depth along;the north side of the Turnpike would provide building and zoning control over this area, preventing sporadic construction which generally leads to the blighting of an area.. To annex this strip it will be necessary to separate the area presently Included In Ordinance No. 4422 Into two areas covered by separate ordinances, and then annex the part adjacent to the Turnpike 30 days hence.. It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted separating the area Included In Ordinance No, 4422 Into two areas, and annexing the 0.179 square mile area adjacent to the Turnpike, as IIlustrated on the attached p-lat, upoin expiration- of the required 30 day waiting period.
