ORDINANCE ACCEPTING IMeRGVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF Sandg kla ne

AND PORTIONS OF SUNDRY OTHER STREETS, AVENUES AND PUBLIC PLACES
IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS; DECLARING THE CONTRACT WITH

IMPROVEMENTS F C T. AND PERFORMED; DIRECTING THE ISSUANCE,
EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF CERTIFICATES IN EVIDENCE OF SPECIAL
ASSESSMENTS LEVIED AFTER GIVING EFFECT TO SUNDRY CREDITS HEREIN
AUTHORIZED AND ALLOWED AGAINST SOME OF SAID ASSESSMENTS; DIRECTING
THE CITY SECRETARY TO ENGROSS AND ENROLL THIS ORDINANCE BY COPYING
THE CAPTION OF SAME IN THE MINUTE BOOK OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, AND BY FILING THE COMPLETE ORDINANCE IN APPRO-
PRIATE ORDINANCE RECORDS OF SAID CITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth, Texas, has heretofore entered into a contract
with R.'V. Gibbins, inc. for the making and construction of certain
street improvements on the hereinafter described portions of streets, avenues and
public places in .said City, to-wit:

When each of the certifiactes has been duly executed as hereinabove provided,
same shall be delivered to the Tax Assessor-Collector as part payment of the contract,:

IV.
The City Secretary is hereby directed to engross and enroll this ordinance by
copying the caption of same in the Minute Book of the City Council of Fort Worth, Texas,
and by filing the complete ordinance in the appropriate Ordinance Records of said City.
V.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage.

Final Council action on the project described below is requested:

Drive to 120 feet North of Brentwood Stair Road
Contractor: R. W. Gibbins, Inc.
Contract Awarded: October 11, 1965 (M&C C-584)
Change order No. I approved April 25, 1966 (M&C C-698)
Work order Issued : December 22, 1965
Work Order Effective: January 17, 1966
Date of Final Inspection and Approval: August 2, 1966
During construction of this project, delays occurred because of utility adjust-
ments, and because soil conditions were found during construction which had
not been anticipated. Change Order No. 1 was issued for adding stabilization
material to the base.
Working Time Bid: 45 working days. Change order No. I increased
the contract time by 11 working days to a total
of 56 working days
Working Time Used : 59 working days. Liquidated damages for the three
days overrun in the amount of $225 are recommended.
Project Cost and Financiag
Bid Price: $72,879.45
Change Order No. 1 : $11,338.00
Adjusted Price: $8,4,217.45
Final Contract Cost ; $80,512.87
Less 3 Days Liquidated Damages at $75.00 per day: 225.00

Deviation of Contract Cost from Adjusted Bid Price : $3,704.58 underrun because
of variations between quantities estimated in the contract specifications and

During testing on this project 23 coring s were made with the following results :

On the entire project, the average thickness of the base course is 4.38 inches
compared with 4.0 inches specified and the hot mix asphaltic concrete surface
is 7.71 inches thick compared with 7.5 inches specified . Tests made during
construction of the sub-grade, base and pavement showed that materials used
were in compliance with specifications.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the above project be accepted by adoption of an
ordinance and that final payment of$7,817.28 be authorized to R. W. Gibbins,
Inc.
