AUTHORIZING THE HONORARY DESIGNATION ON WEST RISINGER ROAD
AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH BURR OAK LANE FOR BEN AND MEG ARBOUR
WHEREAS, Ben was born on May 14, 1981 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and died on November
6, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas; he was 39 years old.
WHEREAS, Ben married Meg Anderson on July 23, 2003 in Boerne, Texas and have four
wonderful children, Wesley, Abby, Micah, and Noah.
WHEREAS, Ben excelled at everything he did: being a loving husband to Meg and father to his
four children, living and witnessing to others his strong Christian faith and his exceptional knowledge
thereof, opening his home and himself to his and his family's many friends as well as to strangers in
need of counseling, guidance or a safe place to stay, passionately pursuing his academic endeavors,
working at his job consistently and tirelessly to deliver outstanding results and provide for his family, all
while displaying a true love of life, true happiness and a wonderful sense of humor.
WHEREAS, Ben was an Eagle Scout and held a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M
University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets Company E-1 as well as Rudder's Rangers,
the Ross Volunteers, the Corps Chaplains and IGNITE Student Ministries.
WHEREAS, after college, Ben and Meg completed missionary training with Heart of God
Ministries, served for six months as missionaries among an unreached people group in East Asia and
remained passionate about mission and the unreached thereafter.
WHEREAS, Ben held a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary and a PhD in Philosophical Theology from the University of Bristol, England; he
authored numerous books and academic articles and spoke at numerous academic conferences.
WHEREAS, Meg Arbour was born on April 13, 1981 in Azle, Texas and she passed away on
November 6, 2020 in Fort Worth at age 39.
WHEREAS, Meg's early years were spent in Abilene, Texas and she attended Cornerstone
Christian School and Wylie High School; in 1996, when Meg was a sophomore, the family moved to
Eldorado, Texas and she graduated with honors from Eldorado High School in 1999, having played in
the band and been a cheerleader.
WHEREAS, while in Eldorado Meg also became a Certified Nurse's Assistant; she worked at
the local nursing home, was on call for 911 emergencies and even drove the ambulance on occasion
when needed.
WHEREAS, following graduation from high school she pursued a degree in health education
with an emphasis in special education from Texas A&M University , graduating in 2003.
WHEREAS, while at Texas A&M she was involved in IGNITE Student Ministries , teaching
Bible studies in dorms and in her sophomo re year at A&M she met Benjamin Arbour on a "Beach
Reach" mission trip to Corpus Christi , Texas.
WHEREAS, by the time their children were of school age , Meg felt strongly committed to
teaching them and preparing them for life through homeschool; after she began homeschooling, she
teamed up with two other women to create the "Lesson Plan Ladies" home school curriculum , which has
helped meet the needs for many homeschooling parents .
WHEREAS, the impact Meg had on so many lives is incredible ; she reached out in selfless love
to everyone she met; by reputation , she was sought after for her counsel and prayer supp01t; dozens of
women considered her their best friend .
WHEREAS, Meg and Ben were faithful members of Wedgwood Baptist Church.
WHEREAS, City Council desires to provide for the honorary designation on West Risinger
Road at its intersection with Bun Oak Lane , as depicted on the attached map , for Ben and Meg Arbour.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:
In recognition of their contributions to the City of F01t Worth , West Risinger Road at its intersection
with Burr Oak Lane is hereby designated in recognition of Ben and Meg Arbour.
Adopted this 21 st day of March , 2023.
