APPROVED AS TO FORM ADD L 11 U. 000 Passed and approved this, the day of it of Fort Worth) Texas Mayor and Council Communication DATE REFERENG JECT; Annexation of County Enclaves PAGE 40086 NUM'SER PZ South of Trinity River 8/9/71 -454 1 of -I— The City's POLICY FOR REVIEW OF ANNEXATION AND DEANNEXATION REQUESTS provides that "Land will be considered for annexation, when its proximity to the City, the 'rate of growth of the City, and other factors Indicate t1lat annexation of the area would aid the City's growth and development, or when annexation is required to guard against uncontrolled delvelopment not consistent 'with long-range land use needs of the area." It is proposed that consideratiou he given to the annexation of three county enclaves comprising approximately 0.43 square mile between Oakland Boulevard and Loop-820, north of the Turnpike and south of the Trinity River (see accompanying map). These enclaves are surrounded by 'the city limits of Fort Worth and are subject to pending development. Annexation is proposed at this time for the following reasons: 1) To prevent undesirable development or deterioration 2) T'o provide general development guidelines as per the Meadowbrook Sector Plan 3) To aid police and fire calls by, better establishing jurisdictional lines 4) To eradicate enclaves of unannexed :land presentl,y pocketed the municipal boundaries of Fort Worth. ,'itL.Clan Commission 'Reconiendation In Jul ., 1971, these enclaves were recommended for immediate annexation by the City Plan Commission. MERjSjkaL Services The City of Fort Worth can provide all municipal services. Rocommendation, It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City staff to initiate annexation proceedings as per the attached timetable on the three enclave areas.
