Led,94 Irma s h0 the present time, there are two streets named Hightower in the Cit, tan Worth; a north-south street between East First Street and the Riversi4p Free- way, and an east-west street located in the Handley area of the city . of a, result of the duplication of street names, there has been a considerablelmount of confusion to the public. The City of Fort Worth has been requested to change the Meet name of the High- tower Street located in the Riverside area to Penland Street. The UnitedStates Postal Service and City departments have been informed of the proposed namnw% change and have no objections. A letter has been mailed to all properties whi6h have addresses on HIghtower Street notifying them of the proposed name change and that the City Council will bold hearing on February 21, 1972 at its regular Council meeting. The proposed street name of Penland is derived from the Penland Industrial Addition which abuts more than half of the length of the street on the east side. The name Penland presents no conflict with any. other street names in the city, City Council action is requested on the request to change the street name of Bigbtower Street (Riverside Area) to Penland Street; for which the necessary ordinance has been prepared.
