HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5733-05-2023A Resolution NO.5733-05-2023 AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR DEFENSE ECONOMIC ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR NAVAL AIR STATION JOINT RESERVE BASE FORT WORTH WHEREAS, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) Fort Worth seeks administrative support from the City of Fort Worth for a Defense Economic Assistance Adjustment Grant (DEAAG) from the Texas Military Preparedness Commission (TMPC) and the State of Texas to enhance air station flight line security; WHEREAS, the proposed $720,000 anti -terrorism airfield perimeter security measures will better serve to protect vital national defense assets; WHEREAS, NAS JRB has identified vulnerabilities impacting soon to be arriving F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft; WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) is a defense community as defined in Texas Local Government Code 397.001 and is eligible to apply for the Defense Economic Assistance Adjustment Grant (DEAAG) through the Office of the Governor, Texas Military Preparedness Commission; WHEREAS, NAS JRB will provide 50 percent funding match for the grant and has requested no matching City funds for this project; and WHEREAS, the City desires to partner with NAS JRB Fort Worth to apply on their behalf to the TMPC and the State of Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: The City Manager is authorized to apply for up to $360,000 in DEAAG funding from the State of Texas with no City matching funds for a proposed anti -terrorism airfield perimeter security measure that will better serve to protect vital national defense assets.
