DISCUSSION:
The Library Department is responsible for collecting and depositing donated funds. Over the years, the
Fort Worth Genealogical Society has donated thousands of books, manuscripts, microfilms and other
equipment to the Genealogy Unit of the Fort Worth Public Library (Library). Members also volunteer time
and expertise in assisting library staff at classes and workshops. This $3,000.00 donation will be used by
the Central Library Genealogy, Archives and Local History Unit to purchase a scanner to digitize Archive
collections materials and facilitate public access to digital collections. It is through the generosity of our
supporters that the Fort Worth Library is able to support some of its specialized services such as the
digitized collections.
Woodhaven Community Development, Inc., has provided funding for minor equipment for the East
Regional Library since 1999 and landscaping in 2009. This $1,000.00 donation will be used to purchase
updated shelving for easy access to some of East Regional Library's most popular library materials.
