NOMINATING CHARLIE LAUERSDORF TO THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
PLANNING COUNCIL OF THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF
GOVERNMENTS AND SUGGESTING ALAN BLAYLOCK AS AN ALTERNATE MEMBER
WHEREAS, the Emergency Preparedness Planning Council (EPPC) is an advisory
body to the North Central Texas Council of Governments Executive Board, with the
responsibility to provide policy direction and oversight for the development of regional
emergency planning and response systems and the ability to recommend how to best
utilize financial assistance for regional emergency planning, mitigation, and recovery;
and
WHEREAS, positions on EPPC are allocated to counties and cities based on
population brackets, with one position allocated to a city with a population between
750,000 and 999,9999, meaning Fort Worth — as the only participating municipality in
NCTCOG within that bracket — has a designated position on the EPPC; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Board selects EPPC members from nominations
received from eligible counties and cities; and
WHEREAS, per its bylaws all members of the EPPC must be elected officials
who represent participating counties and cities within the designated planning area;
and
WHEREAS, each member of EPPC is charged with selecting an alternate to attend
if the regular member cannot; and
WHEREAS, EPPC has contacted participating entities to seek nominations for
positions with a term from August 2023 through July 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to nominate Councilmember Charlie
Lauersdorf to the EPPC and to encourage Councilmember Lauersdorf to designate
Councilmember Alan Blaylock as his alternate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:
