SUBJECT
(CD 3) Authorize Acceptance of Donations for the Neighborhood Services Department in the Amount of $7,000.00 from Como Lions Heart, Inc.
for the Purpose of Supporting the Como Community Center Summer Day Camp Program and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Authorize acceptance of monetary donations for the Neighborhood Services Department in the amount of $7,000.00 from Como Lions
Heart, Inc. for the purpose of supporting the Como Community Center Summer Day Camp Program; and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Donations LTD Fund in the
amount of $22,000.00 from available funds, for the purpose of funding the Neighborhood Services Donation project (City Project No.
S00150).
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to accept additional monetary donation of $7,000.00 from Como Lions Heart,
Inc. for the purpose of supporting the Como Community Center Summer Day Camp Program. Specifically, the donation will be used for field trip
fees and transportation cost of campers. These are fees that the City currently pays for and the Special Donations Fund will be offset by the
donation amount.
M&C 22-0568 dated August 9, 2022, authorized acceptance of and appropriated monetary donations in the amount of $15,000.00 for the purpose
of supporting the Como Community Center Summer Day Camp Program in the Special Donations Fund. After some fund restructuring, the
Special Donations Fund will be deactivated and the new Special Donations LTD Fund will be used for all donations going forward. All actual funds
were moved to the Special Donations LTD Fund, but each department will need to appropriate previously received funds into the new fund via an
M&C. The purpose of the M&C is to appropriate $22,000.00 of monetary donations received into the Special Donation LTD Fund for the purpose
of supporting the Como Community Center Summer Day Camp Program.
The Como Community Center is located in Council District 3.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations, receipt of the donated funds, and adoption of the attached
appropriation ordinance, funds will be deposited into and available in the Special Donations LTD Fund, as appropriated. The Neighborhood
Services Department (and Financial Management Services) is responsible for the collection and deposit of funds due to the City. Prior to any
expense being incurred, the Neighborhood Services Department has the responsibility of verifying the availability of funds.
