PURPOSES
( 1 ) The Soap Box Derby is an amateur racing event tor boys
aLd girls ages 8 through 21 which is unique in that the
drivers must also build their own cars, Varying degrees
of assistance may be provided by a parent a.r ,,paardian
depending on the age of the youth , (in National Derby
Rallies, youth may race a car they did not help
construct. ) All-American race rules require that youths
take an active part in the awtua.]. construction of th4n
So&p Box Derby car.
(2 ) To provide a learning experience and one which enables
youth and their parents/guardians to work closely for
extended periods on a project of common interest, TA ca
child shall be encouraged to do as much work as their age
and experience level permits , Adults who do too much
will miss cat on one of the most rewarding aspects of the
program.
( 3 ) To act to improve, use and upkee'-.p park space on the
Rolling Downs Derby Hill area of Pecan Park at 1300
Memorial Oaks Drive, Benbrook, Texas 76126 ,
(4 ) To accept, hold, aclmin.iste;.-, invest, reinvest, sell,
disDose of funds or other property, in whatever form it
may take, as may be received by the corporation.

All rules and reg"lations, including participation requirements,
eligibility criteria, procedures and requirements for probation,
suspension, and expulsion of participants are explained in great
detail and length by the official rule books of the sanctioning
bodiec (either the National Derby Railiea or the A31-American Soap
Box Derby) The length of each requested issue is the essence ,of
both rule books and would take far more than the three page maximum
allownd for this section if typed in context . A copy of each rule
book in available upon request. No policy, bylaw, or Article of
incorporation may supersede the proced-uri-,:,,, of both sanctioning
bodies including those listed above (e.g. snapensions/banning may
only be approved the NDR board, not the GreaLer Fort Worth Soap Box
Derby Association, (as detailed in the NDR zvle book) or only for
one year in any All-American racing event if specific All-American
rules are violated) .
Rules and regulations regarding probation of officers, suspension,
and expulsion of officeps and members of the Greater Fort Worth
Soap Box Derby Associatibn, and the corresponding appeals process
can be found in the enclosed Articles of Incorporation and Roberts
Rules of Order (as required by the Greater Fort Worth Scap Box
Derby Association's Articles of Incorporation, Article IV, Section
2, Article VII, Section 8 and a Bylaw from the july 26, 1995
special board meeting with extends Board of Director resignation
and Removal procedures (Article V11, SectL�.n 8 ) to membership,
Article VI ) .
Due process for any suspensions and expulsions cf officers and
mte-,,Tih�ers (from the association, not frol-il participating in derby
racing as detailed above) is addressed before the entire board of

services of an attorney to review both the Articles of
incorporation and Roberts Rules of Order, the related laws of Texas
