With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Parker called the City
Council Work Session of the Fort Worth City Council to order 1:01 p.m. on Tuesday,
August 1, 2023, in the City Council Conference Room 2020 of the Fort Worth City Hall,
200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas.
1. Report of the City Manager - David Cooke, City Manager
a. Upcoming and Recent Events
There were no upcoming and recent events.
b. Organizational Updates and Employee Recognition(s)
City Manager David Cooke called on Dana Burghdoff, Assistant City Manager to
recognize Ricky Salazar as Interim Director for Property Management.

Dana Burghdoff, Assistant City Manager called on Ricky Salazar, Interim Director for

Mayor Parker recommended that staff work to make the information easy to
digest for the public.

4. Annual Update on Operations at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden — Dave
Lewis, Park and Recreation Interim Director and Patrick Newman, Botanical
Research Institute of Texas President and CEO
Presentation was made by Dave Lewis, Interim Director for Park and Recreation and

Council Member Flores requested information on the amount of private funding.

6. Fire Ad -Hoc Committee Recommendation — Carlos Flores, Committee Chair,

7. Update on Selection of Police Advisory Board — Chief Neil Noakes, Police
Presentation was made by Chief Neil Noakes, Fort Worth Police Department.
8. City Council Requests for Future Agenda Items and/or Reports
Council Member Crain requested information on the reporting structure for medical
directors for the top five cities in the Metroplex and the top 10 cities in the state.
Council Member Crain requested a list of current contracts that were originally over five
years in length including how many years are left on the contract and the total costs of the
contract.
Council Member Nettles requested information on the policy relating to disconnecting
water service on Friday for both commercial and residential including churches.
Mayor Pro tem Bivens requested information on what circumstances or reasons are
permitted that would prevent water from being disconnected.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor Parker adjourned the meeting at 2:24 p.m.
