The City of Fort Worth enters into a variety of contracts and agreements in order to conduct city business. Examples of contracts include, but are not limited to, the following: • Construction contracts • Property lease agreements • Professional services agreements • Development agreements • Economic development agreements • Management agreements • License agreements Most contracts for goods and services have shorter terms that are typically 5 years or less and may include options to renew. However, some agreements require longer terms extending beyond 5 years based upon the nature of the agreement. For example, the City has contracted with the Fort Worth Zoological Association to manage the Fort Worth Zoo since 1991. Other examples of contracts that may span more than 5 years include construction and professional services agreements related to very large-scale capital projects or property lease agreements. The City maintains basic contract data in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in addition to maintaining a digital copy of contracts in the Laserfiche records retention software. The attached list, exported from the ERP system, includes active contracts and agreements that were executed beginning in 2001 and later, in which the contract term was for a period longer than 5 years.
