Authorize this confract to begin Januay 22, zaa2, and expire September 30, 20Q2, wih ar optian for two one-year renewals with renegotiaed unit prices. DISCUSSION: The City Council has authorized additional general funds in the amount af $200,OOD in FY2001-20D2 for supplemental ctiiity inspectors. This contract wouEd al[ow sfaff to use contrac# services to the xient that funds are available. Tie us of a priate firm to assit City staff in utility inspections would allow the department to suplement existing staff and pride a hgh degree of service. These additional inspectors wauld prode needed resaurces to inspect utiiity cuts and otfer street disrup#ians to manage traffic Flow and work in the fieid monitoringlcoardinating wi#h contractors and other entities to ensure all street actiiies are safe and authorized. Alsa, residents and various organizations requesting street closures for diffrent social events would be served more effectively. Ci#y staff solicited unpricd statements of qualificaions and receied responses fram two frms. A selection committee of City staff reiwed the #irms and based on qalifications, selected TranSystems Corporation Consultants for the services to be performed. City staff has negatiated unit prices for the cantracf and belees them to be fair and reasanable, 5taff recommends that TranSystems Corporation Consultan#s be awarded a cantract for a term of oneyear or an aggregate fee rrat ta exceed $200,000, whicheer occurs first. MIWBE - TranSystems Corporation Consultants is in comp[iance with the City's MIWBE Ordnance by commtting to 10% MIINBE participatin.
