HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 16255-01-2005Ordinance No. AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND, BOTANIC GARDEN PROJECTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $251,575.15 AS DONATIONS ARE RECEIVED FROM THE FORT WORTH BOTANICAL SOCIETY AND THE FORT WORTH GARDEN CLUB, 1NC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING POSITIONS AT FORT WORTH'S BOTANIC GARDEN, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINEb BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments far Fiscal Year 2004- 2005 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shelf also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund, Botanic Garden Projects in the amount of $261,575.15 as donations are received from the Fort Werth Botanical Society and the Fort Worth Garden Club, Inc., far the purpose of funding positions at Fort Worth's Botanic Gordan. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section ar part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, Such decision, opinion or judgment shall in na way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full farce and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 16061 and aH other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Authorize the City Manager to accept a gift of $7x,574.22 from the Fort Worth Satanical Society Inc. for the purpose of funding for a period of one {1) year, the salary and benefits of a Gardener and a Senior Maintenance Worker position at the Botanic Garden; 2. Accept a gift of $176,000.93 from the Fort Worth Garden Club, Inc. for the purpose of funding far a period of one year, the salaries and benefits of a Genter Coordinator, an Administrative Technician, an Audio Visuai Specialist, a Senior Maintenance Worker position and an S01 Maintenance Worker position at the Botanic Garden; and 3. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund, Botanic Garden Projects, by $251,575.15 from available funds. DISC!lSSION: The Fort Worth Botanical Society, Inc. has announced a gift of $75,574.22 to continue for one year funding of the salary and benefits of a Gardener and a Senior Maintenance Worker position assigned to the Japanese Garden area of the Botanic Garden. The Fort Worth Garden Club, loc. has announced a gift of $176,000.93 to continue for one year funding of the salaries and benefits of a Center Coordinator, an Administrative Technician, an Audio Visual Specialist, a Senior Maintenance Worker position and an S01 Maintenance Worker position. These five positions are utilized to provide services at the Botanic Garden Center building. The Botanical Society and the Fort Worth Garden Club are presently funding these positions and have announced their intentions to contribute in the future to continue these positions. The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the Special Trust Fund.
