AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO
SPONSORED RESEARCH AGREEMENT

This AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO SP()N�ORED RESEARCH AGREEMENT
("Ame�ndment") is entered into by and between the CITY OF FORT WORTH (the "City"), a
home ntle municipal corporation orgaziized under th� laws of the State of Texas, and THE
UNTVEItSITY �F TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ("U�xversity"), a Siate Institution of Higher
Education established under the laws of th� State of Texas as a component institution of The
University of Texas System.
The follawiug introductory provisions are t�ue and correct and form the hasis of this
Amendment:
A. The City and the University entered ia�to a Spon�or�d Research Agreement, effective
as of Februaty 17, 2002, under which the University agreed to undertake a Research Pro�am
studying the effects of �he relocanan of residents in the Ripley Arnold public housing cotnplex
("Agreem�nt"). The Agreement is a public document on file in the City �ecretary's Office as City
Secretary Contract Na 27875 and i� on f le with the University as Agreemezit Number 02-143.
B. The ' expiratian date of the Agree�z�ent is February 16, 2003. However, the
Agreement anticipates an amendrnent under which the expiration dat� wi11 be extended on the
eondition that additional funding has been secured by the City for continuatian of the Research
Program beyond the First Year's Research.
C. The City is in the process of securing such additional funding and has requested that
the expiratian date o�the l�greement be extended to March 31, 2003 in order to give tlae parties time
to determine whethex additional amendments to the Agreennent wil� be nec�ssary once such fiuiding
is secured.
NOW, THEREFORE, for good and valuable consideraiion, the receipt and adequacy of
which axe hereby acknowl�dged, the City and the Universzty agree as fallows:
1. Section 1(Effective Dafie) of the Agreement i� hereby amended ta provide that the
expiraiion date af the Agr�ement vtrill be March 31, 20Q3. Notwithstanding anything iaa the
A�reement ihat may be interpreted to the contrary, the City and the University he�eby acknowledge
and agree that the e�tension of the expzration date to March 3I, 2003 will not obligat� the
University to undertake, �nd wi11 not obligate the City tn pay University for, any vvork under the
Research Progra�nn. beyand the First Year's Research.
�. Subject to Section ]. of this Amendment, all othe� terms and conditions of the Agreement
sha11 rernain in full farce and effect.
