("Contracio�"), by and thraugh G�rald Shaw, its duly autborized President. Contractor's business addr�ss is 2517 Thannisc� Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 7b I05. Wf�REAS, the C�ty of Fort Wo�th and Contractor have heretofore entered into City Secretary Contract (CSC)No. 23885 as amended by CSC Nos. 26058, 24b07 and 26919, to provide Cornmunity Development Block Grant (GDBG) funds to support 11Titchell Boulevard's Model Blacks program abjectives and WI�REA�, the said contaract expires by its terms on 7uly 1b, 2002, and WE�REAS, the contract aIIows far a one time extension of tf�e contract far up to a one- year term to meet the project goals, and WHEREAS, the parties have agreed that it is to their mutual benefit to extend Cantract No. 23885 to meef the project goals. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideratian of these prerrusss and the terms and conditions hereinaft�r set forth, the parties covenant and agree as fflllows: 1. The term of Cantract No. 23885 is hereby amended and e�rtended until July 15, 2003. '" 2. All other terms and condit�ons of the contract remain. in full force and effect, binding upan the parties, a.nd are hereby ratifiea by the parties. DISCUSSION: The MBDC is fF�e development arm of tF�e Mitchell Boulevard Model Blocks. After receiving the $1.2 million Modef Biocks award in 1995, residents created and empowered the MBDC to carry out, on their behaff, housing, eommuni#y, and economic development activities. The MBDC operates as a Community Ho�sing Developm�nf Organization and as a Community Based Devela�ment Organization. This extension wifl allow fhe MBDG to fulfill its eontrac�ua! obligations to the Mifchell Boulevard communify and the Cify af Fort Worth. Tl�e MBDC is currently working on tF�e construction af a commercia! facilify, whicf� they will feas� to variaus types of commerciallretail enterprises. This faciiity will provide services and econamic opportunity for the area and provide an income stream to support the MBDCs confinued operations. Leasing ot the c�mpleted structure is sched�fed to begin in the Fa[I 2001. I As a housing provi�er, t�e MBDC is continuing to expand its capacity. They have completed t�e rehabilitation and sale of one home, and fhe constr�ction of tr�vo �omes for �ow/moderate income first- time homebuyers. They currently hav� oRe unit under construction, and ihree units scheduled to begirt rehabilitation in the near future. TF�e MBDC continues fo ac�uire �acant lofs and hauses �or its on- � going ha�sing developmenf program. The MBDC is finalizing the purchase of the property, which is to be the site of the proposed neigF�borhood park. However, marketing of their Exteriar Home Beautifiicafion Matching Grant program has met with only Eimited success. Therefore, tF��y �ave halted the program, and request tha# remaining funds �e realfocated fo provide support for their other programs.
