5L18JECT APPR4VAL OF INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS WITH VARIOUS MUNiCEPA.iTIES F4R
THER PARTICIPATfON AT THE ENVIRNMENTAL COLLEGTION CENTER
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that #he City Council auhorize the City Manager to execute Interlocal Agreements
with arioUs municipalitieslentities or fheir participatian at the Environmenfal Colfctian Cenfer.
DISCUSSION:
The City's Enironmental Collection Center is now in its fiffh year of aperation collecting househald
hazardous was# from the citizens of Fort Worth and surrounding communities on a year-round basis.
In order for nan-Fort Worth citizens ta participa#e at th cntr, ach munEcipality is required to enter
into an Interiacal Agreement with the City of Fart Worth.
Last year, 23 area communities signed participa#ian agreements with the City. For the upcoming year,
we expect #hat number to rise io 24 communities. The rate per househokd for the period covered by
these agreements (etor 1, 201, thraugh Sep#ember 30, 2002) is $6Q. It is anticipated that
approximatefy $300,Ofl0 wil! be collected under these agreements.
This agreement outfines the respansibilities af each parky, estab[ishes the rate far participation, and
delineates the use of service-marked public education material. The City is responsible for the oerall
operation of the center, including contracting with a hazardous waste disposal company for
tratsportation and disposal of materials collected.
The folowing entities have expessed an interest or ae a[ready committed to participation for the
period October 1, 201, through 5eptember 3a, 2Q02:
