1875
The purpose of this Informal Report is to provide information on the number of fireworks calls for
the 4t" of July and New Year's holidays for the past five years. The request also includes a heat
map for each holiday by year.
First and foremost, it is important to point out that fireworks can be dangerous and are illegal to
possess in the City of Fort Worth. There are significant fines associated when an individual is
caught violating this law.
For the purpose of this report, the date ranges used are the 3-4t" of July and December 31-
January 1 st with the yearly totals for 2019 through 2023. The information provided is from calls
received through the Fort Worth Police Communications Division as well as calls received
through the call center that is managed by the Fort Worth Fire Department. This information was
combined for this report in order to provide a holistic look at all fireworks calls across the city. The
chart below provides the number of calls by Patrol Division as well as Council District.

frame, all patrol divisions except Northwest saw an increase in the number of calls for fireworks
for the 3rd-4t" of July from 2022 to 2023. Conversely, we saw a decrease in the number of
fireworks calls for all patrol divisions for December 31-January 1 from 2022 to 2023.
When these numbers are broken down by smaller Council Districts compared to the larger patrol
divisions there is a different pattern that emerges. Council Districts 2, 4, 5, and 7 saw decreases
in the calls for fireworks for the 3rd_4th of July from 2022 to 2023. While there was an increase in
number of fireworks calls in Council Districts 4, 7, and 8 for December 31-January 1 from 2022 to
2023. Even though these numbers only give a snapshot regarding the issue of fireworks, it
provides enough context to see what impact our efforts are having trying to address the problem.
