The cost of the study was shared by Tarrant County, the City of Fort Worth, the City of Arlington, other cities in the County and many of the area hospitals. The Tarrant County Commissioners Court agreed to be the lead agency in administering the contract with the Fourth Party. The consultants received general direction from an ad hoc Emergency Medical Services committee which consisted of representatives from each of the agencies that participated in the cost. Councilman Richard Newkirk represented the City of Fort Worth on this committee. Since the completion of this study, many of the area cities have been reviewing its contents in an effort to determine whether or not they are interested in participating in a County-wide ambulance system. The Commis- sioners Court is in the process of scheduling meetings for cities in each of the precincts to review the consultants proposal and to discuss a possible implementation schedule. Attached is a copy of the proposed implementation schedule and a "white paper" on the proposed County-wide ambulance service. Time has been set aside doing the Pre-Council meeting on January 17, 1984 to discuss these items with the City Council. If additional information is required before the meeting it will be ✓ supplied upon request. Robert L. Herchert City Manager Attachments l ISSUED BY THE CITY MANAGER --- FORT WORTH, TEXAS
