Subject: SUMMARY OF THE 1983 HOUSING AUTHORITY ANNUAL REPORT
eo
The Housing Authority of Fort Worth (FWHA) is a public agency authorized
by State law to engage in the development, acquisition, leasing, and
administration of low-rent housing programs.
Federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
made up 65 percent of the 1983 budget, with the balance coming from
local operating receipts.
Property Management
At the end of 1983, the FWHA owned or leased 1,384 apartment units for
low-income citizens distributed as follows:
Ripley Arnold Apartments 280 Units
Butler Place 250 Units
Butler Place Addition 244 Units
J. A. Cavile Place 300 Units
Hunter Plaza 234 Units
Fair Oaks 76 Units
The year-end vacancy rate for units available for occupancy was 3
percent.
Section 8 Housing
The FWHA Section 8 now includes 1,320 existing units and 184 moderate
units. The former has maintained a high degree of lease-up (97%-99%)
which has resulted in a closed waiting list for most of the year.
Social Services
The Community Services Department worked with resident associations and
social service agencies in an attempt to help residents deal with social
and economic concerns in addition to their housing needs.
If additional information is needed, it will be provided upon request.
