P u �z •rExAy` Subject: SUMMARY OF THE 1983 HOUSING AUTHORITY ANNUAL REPORT eo� The Housing Authority of Fort Worth (FWHA) is a public agency authorized by State law to engage in the development, acquisition, leasing, and administration of low-rent housing programs. Federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) made up 65 percent of the 1983 budget, with the balance coming from local operating receipts. Property Management At the end of 1983, the FWHA owned or leased 1,384 apartment units for low-income citizens distributed as follows: Ripley Arnold Apartments 280 Units Butler Place 250 Units Butler Place Addition 244 Units J. A. Cavile Place 300 Units Hunter Plaza 234 Units Fair Oaks 76 Units The year-end vacancy rate for units available for occupancy was 3 percent. Section 8 Housing The FWHA Section 8 now includes 1,320 existing units and 184 moderate units. The former has maintained a high degree of lease-up (97%-99%) which has resulted in a closed waiting list for most of the year. Social Services The Community Services Department worked with resident associations and social service agencies in an attempt to help residents deal with social and economic concerns in addition to their housing needs.
