Subject: IMPROVEMENT OF BOAT CLUB ROAD (AZLE AVENUE TO PARK ROAD)
MINUTE ORDER 82693
On March 12, 1985 (M&C G-6278) , the City Council approved Minute Order
82693 providing for the improvement of Boat Club Road subject to several
stipulations. One of the stipulations related to pavement design in
that we specified City of Fort Worth standard pavement. The area in
question is developing quite rapidly. The State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation (SDHPT) has advised that they do not consider
our acceptance of the Minute Order to be valid because of that stipula-
tion. Unless further action is taken, the SDHPT advised that they will
consider the Minute Order to be expired 90 days from its passage date of
January 28, 1985.
The staff does not believe it is in the City's best long-term interest
to accept the Minute Order as proposed by the SDHPT. Accepting the
Minute Order would allow for a road to be constructed that does not meet
the City's design standards and, therefore, would create a long-term
maintenance problem because of heavy traffic volume.
If additional information is required, it will be firnished upon re-
quest.
