April 23, 1985
To the Mayor and Members of the City Council
Subject: CHISHOLM TRAIL ROUND-UP
The Chisholm Trail Round-Up celebration is presented annually for one weekend as
a street festival in the Stockyards Area. With its increased success and popularity,
the festival sponsors believe that they could meet the increasing expenses of providing
for the safety and comfort of the public if permitted to charge a nominal admission
fee. It is proposed that $1.00 per person be charged prior to 6:00 p.m. and $2.00 per
person after 6:00 p.m. with children 12 and under free at all times.
Permission for the admission fee at the Chisholm Trail Round-Up has been requested
in a petition from owners of businesses in the Exchange Avenue area. It is understood
that the festival would be conducted at no risk or expense to the City.
The Chisholm Trail Round-Up Board of Directors proposes to contribute substantial
-park improvements to the City in addition to meeting the expenses of the festival.
Council direction is requested as to whether the staff should continue planning d'etails
with the Chisholm Trail Round-Up Board of Directors based on the proposed admission
fees. If Council so desires, a Mayor and Council Communication will be presented for
consideration detailing arrangements for security, clean-up, Street closure, insurance,
Further information will be provided upon request.
