HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 7059 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No 7059 _.,J1 T I October 29, 1985 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council to Subject' PRELIMINARY 1966-88 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: 73 CITIZEN INPUT PROCESS As you will recall ) the City Council and citizenry were presented in early October with a preliminary listing of projects for consideration in the 1986-68 Capital Improvmement Program . These projects were identified after staff Had made considerable reveiw of community needs and it is anticipated that there will be adjustments to these projects by the City Council based on citizen input . This cit i zen input was to be obtained from a series of public meetings and an intensive effort has been underway during the month of October with numerous neighborhood meetings conducted across the City . The purpose of these meetings is to explain the tentative listing of projects to interested citizens and to receive feedback on the citizens ' perception of project priorities . In an effort to insure that all citizens and organizations are afforded the opportunity to become familiar with and provide feedback on the CIP during this input process , several concluding row meetings Have been scheduled. On November 6; 1985) a meeting for all interested citizens will be Held at ??30:30 in the City Council Chambers which will be broadcast on cable television . The agenda includes an overview of the ClP process and tentative schedule leading to the bond election , the presentation by staff of the tentative listing of projects , and aperiod of receiving and recording any comments or priorities which the citizens may wish to express . Further , key staff members will be available to answer any questions or provide explanation , where necessary . In addition to receiving feedback and responding to questions from those citizens present at the meeting , telephone lines will be available for citizens to call in for this purpose during the meeting . Following the meeting to be Held in the Council Chambers, five meetings are also scheduled for the week of November 11 , 1985 and are planned to be Held in convenient regional locations in order to provide citizens the opportunity to attend the most accessible meeting ( see attached schedule of meetings ) . City Council Members are encouraged to attend these meetings ) where possible . At the conclusion of these final meetings ) staff will prepare a consensus listing for the City Council ' s consideration .
