CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 4, 2024, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF
THE CITY OF FORT WORTH THE QUESTION OF THE
APPROVAL AND IMPLEMENTATION OF RESOLUTION 5866-
01-2024 DESIGNATING THE FORT WORTH CONVENTION
CENTER AND RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE AS A VENUE
PROJECT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 334, TEXAS
LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE, AND DESIGNATING THE
METHOD OF FINANCING FOR THE VENUE PROJECT
WHEREAS, on February 13, 2024, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth adopted Ordinance
No. 26720-02-2024, calling for and ordering a special election to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at
which special election all qualified voters of the City of Fort Worth would have the opportunity to vote
on the question of approving and implementing Resolution No. 5866-01-2024 designating the Fort Worth
Convention Center and related infrastructure as a venue project in accordance with Chapter 334, Texas
Local Government Code, and designating the method of financing for the venue project; and
WHEREAS, on May 4, 2024, a special election was held at which the qualified voters of
the City of Fort Worth had the opportunity to vote on the question of approving and implementing
Resolution No. 5866-01-2024 designating the Fort Worth Convention Center and related
infrastructure as a venue project in accordance with Chapter 334, Texas Local Government Code,
and designating the method of financing for the venue project; and
WHEREAS, all circumstances surrounding the calling of the special election, giving of notice, holding
of the special election, and return of ballots have been legally had and done; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Texas Election Code, the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth is required to canvass the returns and declare the results of the special election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH THAT:
SECTION 1. The declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
hereby found to be true and correct and shall be made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and declares that a special election was held on May
4, 2024, at which special election qualified voters were given the opportunity to vote on the question of
approving and implementing Resolution No. 5 866-01-2024 designating the Fort Worth Convention Center
and related infrastructure as a venue project in accordance with Chapter 334, Texas Local Government
Code, and designating the method of financing for the venue project.
SECTION 3. The City Council further finds and declares that the returns for such election were
as follows:
CITY OF FORT WORTH PROPOSITION A
Authorizing the City of Fort Worth, Texas to provide for renovation of the Fort Worth
Convention Center and related infrastructure (the "Venue Project" designated by City
Council Resolution No. 5866-01-2024), and to impose a new venue hotel occupancy tax
on the price paid for a room in a hotel, at a rate not to exceed two percent (2%) of the
price of the hotel room, for the purpose of financing the Venue Project; if approved, the
maximum hotel occupancy tax rate imposed from all sources in the City of Fort Worth
would be seventeen percent (17%) of the price paid for a room in a hotel.

SECTION 4. The City Council further finds and declares that such returns are correct and
adopts them as the returns of the election held on May 4, 2024, together with the tabulation of the total
number of votes received in each precinct.
SECTION 5. The City Council further finds that such results of the May 4, 2024 special
election are that the venue project was approved in accordance with Chapter 334, Texas Local
Government Code, and that the City Council is authorized to impose a new venue hotel occupancy tax
on the price paid for a room in a hotel, at a rate note to exceed two percent (2%) of the price of the hotel
room for the purpose of financing the venue project.
SECTION 6. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of the Fort Worth
City Council at which this Resolution was adopted was open to the public and that public notice of the
time, place, and purpose of said meeting was given, as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas
Government Code.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effect upon adop on on this 14nday of May, 2024.
