* SUBJECT. US 287/Berry/Vaughn Intersection Improvements
The City of Fort Worth is sponsoring a grant application to improve the accessibility to the Renaissance
Square development project. These improvements include a new connection from the southbound IBS 287
frontage road to a full intersection, including a free right turn lane to west bound Berry Street and full traffic
signal modification(see attached map).
This project is estimated to cost $1,563,500. Of this amount $1,250,800 will be federal funds and a City
match (20%) in the amount of $312,700. The City's share will be provided by Lockart Companies,
developer. To date the City has worked with the developer's consulting engineer to provide the State with
information to include the Traf=fic Impact Analysis, preliminary construction layout and the City's share of
funds.
TPW's management staff' met with the TxDOT District Engineer, Maribel Chavez, on October 23, 2009.
During that meeting, Ms. Chavez posed numerous questions about the information provided by the City and
the developer's consulting engineer and suggested details that would refine the draft Local Project Advanced
Funding Agreement (LPAFA). It was suggested that the developer utilize its financial match by acquiring
11 right-of=way and designing the project, while funding for construction is being finned-up with NCTCOG.
The letting schedule for this project has been pushed back from its original date of 1-010 to 2011 (or beyond).
TPW is currently working with the developer's engineer to:
• Respond to the suggestions brought forth by TxDOT
• Review the proposed layout in an effort to reduce pavement resurfacing requirements
• Verify federal funding with NCTCOC
• Respond to comments by TxDOT in order to finalize the draft LPAFA
It is anticipated that this process will be complete by the end of December 2009, followed by a request for
City Council authorization to execute the LPAFA.
