HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9147 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 9147 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council November 10, 2009 Page 1 of 2 SUBJECT: TARRANT COUNTY UPDATE Of specific interest, at its November 3 meeting, the Commissioners Court approved: • Tax abatement agreement with Health Care Services Corporation/Blue Cross Blue Shield for the construction of a data center in Alliance Gateway Business Park • A contract between Tarrant County and the Salvation Army for the provision of transitional housing and supportive services for the homeless • Six lease agreements for temporary public health H1 N1 vaccination sites (sites will provide only the H1 N1 vaccine) • Seminary Drive in Fort Worth (La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth) • North Main Street in Fort Worth (Mercado — 1500 North Main) • Eastchase in Fort Worth (1550 Eastchase Parkway, Suite 1500) • South Cooper in Arlington • Harwood Drive in Bedford • Cherry Lane in White Settlement Should you wish to review the entire agenda for the November 3 meeting, it can be accessed at www.tarrantcounty.com and click on COMMISSIONERS COURT AGENDA. The agenda for each Tuesdays Commissioners Court meeting is posted Friday of the previous week and can be viewed at the website indicated above. Additionally, regarding the H1 N1 issue, a briefing was provided to the Commissioners Court by Lou Brewer, Director of the Tarrant County Public Health Department. The focus of that briefing was the H1 N1 vaccine event held October 30 at the W. G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City. Details of the briefing are as follows: • 1,660 citizens participated • Of the 1,660 participants, 550 were pregnant women In addition, at present, plans call for emergency responders in municipalities to be targeted for receipt of the H1 N1 vaccine f In addition, 1 s t p,m, Tuesday, November 3, a meeting was held at the Resource Connection Center to discuss the next H1 N1 vaccine event. The details of the discussions at this meeting are as follows; • At present, there is no firm date for the delivery of additional H1 N1 vaccine • The next H1 N1 clinic will be in Fort Worth when additional vaccine has been received I Advance notice of 5- days ° ilI be provided ,prior to the next H 1 N I clinic * The hours of operatlon foir the next HI N1 dinic will probably be '110,00 a.m. to 5-00 p.m. 3 FORT WORTH, TEXAS INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 9147 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council November 10, 2009 Page 2 of 2 SUBJECT: TARRANT COUNTY UPDATE • The City of Fort Worth will provide law enforcement support for the next H1 N1 clinic • MedStar is considering stationing an ambulance at the next H1 N1 clinic • The Tarrant County Emergency Operations Center will activate to support the H1 N1 clinic and will request a City of Fort Worth representative be present Finally, November 3, it was announced that a Tarrant County male in his late 50s died of a flu related illness last month; and that subsequently, laboratory results confirmed HI N1 as the cause of death. It has also been confirmed that the gentleman was a Fort Worth resident. At this time, no other details have been provided.
