HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9177 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 9177 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council January 26, 2010 o+MT`s Page 1 of 1 • SUBJECT: Downtown Area Public Heliport Feasibility Study The Aviation Department has contracted with URS Consulting (per City Council approval October 20, 2009) to conduct a Downtown Heliport Feasibility and Siting Study. An advisory panel of interested stakeholders has been assembled. The members include: William Boecker, Fine Line Diversified; Johnny Campbell, CVB & Sundance; Guy del Giudice, CareFlite; Brian Dunaway, Epic Helicopters; Jim Dunaway, JRD Group; Jim Godfrey, Aviation Advisory Board; Randle Harwood, CFW; Alex Jimenez, Aviation Advisory Board; Randy Means, Aviation Advisory Board; Jay Paschke, City of Fort Worth; Brinton Payne, FW Chamber, Kent Penney, CFW; Jack Sosebee, Cook Children's; Andy Taft, Downtown Fort Worth Inc. In addition, a number of other interested parties will be consulted through the process to gather as broad an input as possible as it relates to the feasibility of a heliport and subsequently siting issues. There are a series of meetings that will be conducted involving the interested stakeholders. The meetings are as follows: Meeting 1: Project Kick-off- January 22, 2010 Meeting 2: Determination of Heliport Feasibility- February/March Meeting 3: Preliminary Heliport Site Selection - May/June Meeting 4: Final Heliport Site Selection - July The Aviation Department will continue to keep the City Council informed as to the progress of the study. At the point in which the heliport feasibility is determined, the City Council will be advised as to whether it is recommended to proceed to site selection.
