HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 24-1866INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 24-1866 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council June 4, 2024 Page 1 of 1 SUBJECT: PROPOSED COUNCIL INITIATED ZONING CHANGE FOR '? 4812 PARKER HENDERSON ROAD IN THE ECHO HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD, LOCATED IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 11 On June 11, 2024, the City Council will consider a resolution to initiate the zoning change process for property located at 4812 Parker Henderson Road in the Echo Heights neighborhood. The 1.6- acre property is currently zoned "I" Light Industrial. The property is occupied by a trucking business and backs up to residential dwellings. The neighborhood that adjoins this property has repeatedly expressed concerns about the incompatibility of the industrial zoning. In 2023, the City Council approved an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan future land use designation for this property from Light Industrial to Single Family Residential. Based upon the feedback received from the neighborhood and the Comprehensive Plan designation, Council Member Jeanette Martinez has requested rezoning. Staff has notified the affected property owner of the proposed zoning change from "I" Light Industrial to "A-5" One Family Residential to be consistent with adjacent zoning districts.
