HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 7094 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No 7094 1P ,,Rk T J IR,* ' To the Mayor and Members of the City Council March 4, 1986 Subject: THE ANNEXATION PROCESS IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IS 73 All annexation requests must satisfy the requirements of Article 970a of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas and the City of Fort Worth Charter. DISCUSSION The formal annexation request is presented to the City Council for approval of the timetable approximately three (3) weeks after the Plan Commission recommends approval . Each annexation proposal appears on the City Council agenda five (5) times during the thirteen-week process: 1) First week, approval of the timetable; 2) Third week, first public hearing; 3) Fifth week, second public hearing; 4) Eighth week, first reading of the annexation ordinance; and 5) Thirteenth week, second and final reading of the annexation ordinance. For each City Council meeting , the following information is provided by staff 1. First week - A Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) , timetable of the thirteen-week process, a staff information report and recommendation of the Plan Commission and an exhibit map. In addition, a current City limit map with the subject annexation proposal highlighted and a concept plan will be mounted on 0101 easels in the northwest corner of the Council Chambers prior to and during the Council meeting . Staff will have small exhibit maps available upon request . Also, staff will be in attendance to answer questions from the Council and/or the citizens. 2. Third week - Informational letter and an exhibit map. In addition, the current City limit map with the subject proposal indicated and a concept plan will be mounted on easels in the northwest corner of the Council Chambers. Also, staff will be available for questions . 3. Fifth week - Informational letter and an exhibit map. Also , a large current City limit map with the subject annexation highlighted and a concept plan will be posted on easels in the northwest corner of the Council Chambers. Staff will be available for additional information. 4. -Eighth week - Informational letter and an exhibit map. Also, the large map and concept plan will be available, and staff will be in attendance . 5. Thirteenth week - Informational letter and an exhibit map. In addition, a large City limit map with the proposed annexation indicated and a concept plan will be posted , and staff will be available . The City Secretary's Office provides an informational letter and exhibit map in each Councilperson' s pre-Council packet when an annexation request is on the agenda for first and second public hearings and first and second readings of the ordinance . 0016.
