em
1073 BOULEVARD TO 1-30 (WEST FREEWAY)
In July, 1985, the City Council directed the Traffic Engineering staff
to perform an engineering analysis on the subject street with special
emphasis on the Camp Bowie/Bryant Irvin Road intersection. That study
was in conjunction with the zoning changes requested for the proposed
Westchase development just south of Camp Bowie Boulevard.
Although the proposed development project is apparently no longer
viable, the study showed that improvements are needed and very desirable
under current traffic volumes. The level of service currently provided
is Level of Service E, whereas the desired design level of service is
Level C. Funds for this project were included in the March 1986 bond
election. Preliminary studies indicate that the project can be accom-
plished with minimal right-of-way purchase and without taking any
buildings if a somewhat narrower than normal parkway can be tolerated.
The City staff believes that the project should be accomplished in order
to relieve the currently congested conditions that exist along the sub-
ject street section. Unless otherwise instructed, the staff will pro-
""` ceed to engage a consulting engineer, subject to City Council approval
for the preparation of plans and specifications for the project. We
will also proceed with appraisals for the R.O.W. parcels needed for the
project.
If additional information is desired, it will be furnished upon request.
