The dumping that has occurred in and around Cobb Park was specifically cited. It was indicated that staff would determine how much money had been returned to the City from the State and come back with a plan on how to best use it. Based on the amount of sales tax for garbage collection that has been collected, $90,000 is projected to be returned to the City. Two initial cleanup efforts have been proposed by Parks and Recreation Department for Cobb Park and Buck Sansom Park using Solid Waste Management crews. The estimated cost for sixteen crew days to do this work is $15,923. A continuing one-day per week cleanup is proposed for Cobb Park over the next year and the cost is estimated to be $25,837. It is also proposed that one 30 cubic yard trash bin be located in Cobb Park and another be located in Buck Sansom Park for a year in an effort to determine whether the illegal dumping problem might be better managed. The cost for service is estimated to be $18,240. Finally, approximately 30,000 waste tires have been collected by Solid Waste Management crews and are being stock piled at the North Central Landfill . Four thousand of these tires had been dumped in Cobb lark and the remainder came from other locations throughout the City. We are going to collect an additional 20,000 illegally dumped waste tires. Bids are currently being solicited for chipping of these tires so that they might be landfilled. It is estimated that the cost to chip and dispose of the waste tires will be $30,000.
